New Heritage Minute Features The Story Of LGBTQ2 Pioneer Jim Egan

Historica Canada released their first Heritage Minute to feature the history of the LGBTQ2 movement in Canada. The one-minute video tells the story of Jim Egan, whose activism denounced homophobic media and tabloids. Egan then went on to fight the Supreme Court of Canada for the ability to apply for the spousal allowance benefit for him and his partner, Jack Nesbit. Their appeal was denied and the Supreme Court unanimously ruled that discrimination based on sexual orientation would be prohibited in Canada. The short is narrated by the talented K.D Lang.

Eggplant Picture & Sound had the honor of working on the project with Historica Canada and Route Eleven. Thank you to our talented team that worked on the film.
